Quotes:
[first lines]
Betty Warren: [voiceover] All her life, she had wanted to teach at Wellesley College. So, when a position opened in the Art History department, she pursued it single-mindedly until she was hired. It was whispered that Katherine Watson, a first-year teacher from Oakland State, made up in brains what she lacked in pedigree. Which was why this bohemian from California was on her way to the most conservative college in the nation.
I think this did a brilliant job of portraying how exactly women were supposed to act and what they were supposed to think during the time period.
Julia Roberts was very good as the free spirited teacher Catherine. The movie had a lovely period feel and the rustic beauty of New England was seen throughout. The supporting cast were all wonderful and though there were a few heavy scenes the movie mostly retained a warm light feeling.
Also, when Katherine (Julia Roberts) scolded Betty for missing so many classes, I felt really good inside. I also felt the same way when she yelled at the Dean. The soundtrack was nice. 2月24日 Brokeback Mountain
A little bit fifferent review, just my heartfelt sayings... Brokeback Mountain I absolutely loved this movie. It touched my heart and soul in a profound way. This film speaks to everyone about what is allowed and denied in society... about man's continued struggle with his inhumanity toward his fellow man... It stayed with me for days and I could not stop mulling it over in my head. I have been trying to analyze why I (and others, from what I have been reading in chat boards etc.) have been experiencing such an intense reaction. The lack of verbal expression, though, did not prevent the feelings from being conveyed, at least to me. I finished it with somewhat morose, but took away an uplifting life lesson as well, which was the central message of the movie, for me. That is, to not let fear inhibit love in your life, in whatever form it may appear. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is a human love , I tell my friends, especially when viewed more with the heart than with the eyes. 2月10日 "Artificial Intelligence""Artificial Intelligence" is one case where a Disneyized-happy-ending modification to the original would've done the film loads of good. As it is, don't watch this movie if you're prone to depression. It'll just make it a lot worse. Little Confusing ~ Just Ok, haha, Well spent the money. Movie soundtrack click here -GANGS OF NEWYORK- Gangs of New York... where to start? The images are so powerful.Leonardo DiCaprio. The gangs of New York were overtaken by the city; lost to the corruption they created-so many men and women lost their lives to self-made war. The amazing use of image and music--- is what really got me. BUT, Contradictorily,in some way, that is a really bloodbath. Characters are created as after all butchers by profession. I do not accept that on this point. Movie official website click Movie soundtrack click Not Another Teen Movie This movie is simply very stupid, but funny.I still find it funny even though I haven't seen all of the movies it makes fun of. This movie is better then the scary movie series. I liked a few jokes like "You'd never suspect everyone ýn the school is a professional dancer"; but that's all . Anyway,This movie is really cool . "Zoolander" Zoolander"- I call that "dumb idiot supermodel " Perhaps this movie doesn't quite work for people who lack an appreciation of dry humour. Personally, I loved it. It seems that most people who dislike prefer movies such as Meet the Parents, which is very watchable. That is hilarious! I laughed all the way through .Wilson's performance is stellar and Stiller's makes you pee your pants with laughter (even if you don't have a pre-existing condition). - haha Enough of the high faluting mumbo jumbo - it is just fun! I am just damn well happy it was made so that I could appreciate it. Movie official website click--really really interesting ! Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I reviewed the whole Harry Potter Series Film till now this weekend. The new Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I find that was the best by far of the Harry Potter series. It has sadness and horror and of course happiness and it keeps you wanting to keep watching. It's hilarious and a must-see. The trio did a great job and so did all of the new additions to the cast. (Katie Leung, Clemence Poesy, Robert Pattinson, Stanislav Ianevski) The special effects in this movie are amazing and I'd say that they were the best out of the four movies. The movie is set in Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, amidst the Triwizard Tournament that the school is hosting. The visual effects are absolutely stunning.I really love the soundtrack too. Mr.&Ms. Smith
Just finished Mr.&Ms. Smith ,It was extremely entertaining from start to finish.Their(Mr.&Ms. Smith ) chemistry together is so electric that you don't want them to be apart. Brad Pitt has never been more likable in a movie. I've never thought of him as a comedic actor before, but comedy is his calling.Angelina... my God that women is incredibly gorgeous. Besides Catherine Zeta Jones, I can't imagine any other actress playing her part. She is strong and takes the lead quickly. Bottom line is when the movie was over there was major clapping in the audience. It is a must see. Film Clip Enjoy---click Bridget Jones Diary Bridget Jones Diary is a must see for all. Its really really funny, and the fact that it stars Hugh Grant and Colin Firth makes it even better. The movie is very funny, hilarious, cool, original and even silly, but fine, with the unique style of British humor. The most funny part is the fight between Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver. This movie has a lot going on outside of the wonderful romance as well. Contemporary events, gender inequities, social differences, work place decorum, fashion, self-image, sex, family, and friendship all come under the scrutiny of Bridget Jones and her diary. **HIGHLY recommended** Diary Click Sound Track Click The Wedding Date I saw this movie tonight, the night it came out and it was wonderful. What chemistry between the main characters! Dermot Mulroney is sexy and charming. It was funny and romantic and had some really great quotes. The music was fun so you may want to run out and buy the soundtrack after singing out loud in the theater. I loved every minute and thought it was worth the time. LOVE DOES NOT COME CHEAP ! Feel Warm Tonight ! ----David Movie Site Click Big Daddy Its very rare that I see a comedy that I really love...and some crude humor. I own 'Big Daddy' and I still watch it when I see it on TV. I like the story , Adam Sandler, also, and think a lot of his films are pretty funny stuff, but this is by far his best. I think what makes this film so great is the slight dramatic element it has to it, while still being completely freakin hilarious. Everything about the movie is perfect, and every single element fits the story just right. The film really couldn't have done a single thing better. And at the same time, a touching film you can actually be moved by 'Big Daddy' is a true good thing. SabrinaSABRINA Now I sit down to write this film critics at last. I remember I first watched the beginning of this famous film a few years ago, and got interested in the humorous monologue of Sabrina to describe the Larrabee family. From then on I'd been longing for watching through the whole content. But now after watching it twice within one week, I get disappointed at the plots of the film. There are so many ridiculous happenings throughout it. Firstly, the protagonist, Sabrina, like other poor but pretty young girls in one million stories, fells in love with a rich, handsome, elegant, and young millionaire. Apparently, according to the director, Sabrina is innocent and faithful to love. She climbs up to the tall tree to peer at her dream lover David everytime the party is held on. She even remembers the first dance with David when they all were kids years ago. She just doesn't mind David's notorious custom of changing girlfriends frequently and constantly. But, the director fails to explain a sharp turn of Sabrina's true love(if it is), which is shifted from David to his elder brother, Linus, so quickly and unthinkable. Through the film we see Linus invites Sabrina to his cottage. On the seashore, then, everything becomes incredible. They spend 48hours together, chatting, dinnering, ambling, came raing, and lying (at least for Linus's part, yes). Then, despite all her deep love for David, who's lying on bed with back up to the roof and a wound in hip, she dramatically falls in love with the elder but more wealthy larrabee. If the handsome face of David attracts she in the past years, what the hell has the power to remove that long-term love for David to Linus? The director does little to persuade us. Linus is much older, less attractive, but more successful in business, i.e., more wealthy when compared with David. and I can find no romance, she describes Linus as a "heart donor", which is unreal according to the whole film show us. It ignites my doubt on her origin motive on chasing for David. Secondly, let's turn our camera onto the Larrabees. Linus, the elder son, is as unexplainable as Sabrina. He acts as a business-orientated, veteran boss. He never hides his lust for money, and in the very beginning,he asserts that Sabrina wants to tempt his younger brother for nothing else but money. Yeah, maybe he is right. But how can a cool and mature man as he turned his own mind so abruptly and thoroughly? He is not a foolish playboy as David. He's resolute, shrewd, and sedate on business, and everything,in fact. However, after a hug by Sabrina, he confesses anything he plots before her(that is,to coax her into going to paris with him,and gotten rid of quietly and safely by him. Certainly,he'll leave a number of francs and a house for her leaving from David, who will marry a rich girl and make Linus's merge project possible.) That's not his style, and it remains unexplainable for me. as for his dear mother, I can't find anybody else can give more accurate remarks on her as her elder son. When that brilliantly dressed madam objects to Linus's tricks for Sabrina hypocritically, the elder son responses: "and you taught me everything I know." And lastly, the father of Sabrina, Mr. Fairchild. He's even more sophisticated and bright than Linus. He frowns on Sabrina's deeds always. And he believes " she(Sabrina) doesn't belong in a mansion, she doesn't belong above the garage either." And the same ludicrously, he agrees on the marriage of Sabrina to Linus, only after Linus simply tells him that he "need her" and "want to make her happy." I just can't understand why all the people in this film like to change their decisions so quickly ludicrously. Well, you may argue that it is just a film, and all characters in films are a little uncommon, but I really think the fiction and imagination of directors can't go too far, even if in their films.
